Can't Upgrade an old 5.3.3.1 site
Permalink
I work in Concrete5 all the time and have had to upgrade many sites but for some reason there is no place that I am able to upgrade this particular site I built for a client running 5.3.3.1. I get the notice "The latest version of Concrete5 is 5.4.2.2. You are running 5.3.3.1. Update Now!" but when I go tohttp://site/index.php/tools/required/upgrade/... I get a notice that says I have the current upgrade of 5.3.3.1 which of course is wrong. I've uploaded 5.4.2.2 in the upgrades folder. What else do I do?
Please help! I have this old Concrete5 site and there is no way for me to update it. I'm stuck in 5.3.3.1 and all the forum posts have suggestions that don't apply to my situation. It is not that I've never updated a C5 site before. I've done many. But, this site has no acknowledgement of an automatic or manual upgrade.
I replied to a duplicate post Yesterday on this. Please note: you need to upgrade in steps... a direct upgrade to the most recent version from 5.3.3.1 Will break the site.
The method I mentioned on your other post works as I just upgraded a site two weeks ago from 5.3.3.1 to current version. To add to that previous post: Don't forget to A) clear cache B) turn off pretty urls C) some find it helpful to upgrade with a core theme (like Yogurt) activated although I've not had issues with leaving the selected theme as long as its been upgraded.
Again... your first upgrade from 5.3.3.1 will likely be a Core switch in your root folder and then subsequent upgrades should be able to be completed from the dashboard.
Be patient.. good luck

If you look at the download page, it will show the steps you need to go through. That far back is before I was involved with c5, so I don't know if the update procedure would be the same as it is now.
Hello
There have been problems with auto update recently so I would advice you to do it manually.
download the latest package from this website (currently 5.6.1.2),
unzip the package and ftp it into the root/updates/ folder,
then run this file from your browser,
http://www.site.com/index.php/tools/required/upgrade/...
Note: Just make it sure to have a backup your database before updating just in case..
If you need to re-run the update file use this code
http://www.site.com/index.php/tools/required/upgrade?force=1...
