Can't upload files to file manager after upgrading to 5.6.3

I upgraded a site to 5.6.3 just now but when I go to the file manager it isn't showing all my images that used to be there but they are there on my server still and if I try and upload an image it says
"An unknown error occurred while uploading the file. Please check that file uploads are enabled, and that your file does not exceed the size of the post_max_size or upload_max_filesize variables. File Uploads: 1 Max Upload File Size: 2M Post Max Size: 8M"
The files directory is set to 777 so shouldn't be a problem and file size is 50kb so no worries there, anyone else seen this?

Try to set 777 permission on subdirectory too.
This is a 5.6.3 bug, see here...
