Class 'ZipArchive' not found after installing Archive_Zip 0.1.2

I have installed the PHP pear package on a godaddy hosted site. Now I am downloading the Pixel2 theme, but am seeing the error "Class 'ZipArchive' not found" when I try to download it in the "Add functionality" section.
I'd prefer not to install this theme manually as I won't be the one to manage it forever. Has anyone else experienced this and/or knows the solution?

I think that might be an optional php extension (possibly 'zip'). Try to enable or install it.
From my reading, that's the Archive_Zip php pear plugin, which I have installed. Is there a location I need to include it for concrete?
