Clean install 5.4.0.5 not working SOLVED.
I am pretty new to Concrete5. I had really big problems to install C5.
I had the same issue as in here (blank page after install, config/site.php empty):
http://www.concrete5.org/community/forums/installation/blank-page-o...
i have tried locally and on my host (delete site.php and empty the database many many times).
I can say that this version from a blank install does not work.
Finally, I got to make a clean install with the previous version 5.3.3.1
and it works perfectly on the first try!!!
Then i uploaded 5.4.0.5 over the current version 5.3.3.1 and did the upgrade and it works perfectly.
From a newbie'point of view on C5:
1°) It is difficult to install C5 and that is not helpful for C5 development, for having this install issue. I was going to
quit...
2°) The upgrade process is not automatically detected. That would helpful Hint: make it a redirect if detecting new version installed (by checking a file for example).
3°) There is definitely an issue with this new 5.4.0.5 version since with 5.3.3.1, it is working perfectly!

but it should be noted that after 5.4.X the upgrade process is automatic - much like WordPress - click of a button and you're on your way.
