Concrete5 CMS won't load once I've logged in - how to fix?

I been experiencing problems trying to logon to my Concrete5 CMS dashboard. The problem is that it won't load on the site once I have logged in. It doesn't matter whether I login from the home page (www.dwsassciates.com) or log in from the Bluehost dashboard through MOJO marketplace, my installs. I can't load the CMS and I can't even login to the site using the adminstrator's user name and password.

I contacted Bluehost support and they said that there seems to have been an upgrade to Concrete5 that didn't complete.

They got the following message:

PHP Warning: Missing argument 1 for Concrete5_Controller_Block_CoreScrapbookDisplay::on_page_view(), called in /home2/dwsteven/public_html/dwsassociates/packages/global_areas/blocks/global_areas/controller.php on line 81 and defined in /home2/dwsteven/public_html/dwsassociates/updates/concrete5.6.3.3/concrete/core/controllers/blocks/core_scrapbook_display.php on line 39

How do I do a complete reinstall of Concrete5 or correct this problem? Which PHP files need to be edited to correct this problem and what code needs to be added or removed?

I've tried doing a complete system backup w/ Bluehost, but for some reason, I get an error message from them that there is an error when trying to do the restore.

Have you tried re-running the upgrade? You can go tohttp://www.dwsassociates.com/index.php/tools/required/upgrade... and it should give you the option to re-run the script. Would be a good place to start.

Thanks that seems to have fixed the problem.

Well, I thought that fixed it, but it didn't. I still can't login to the site and access any of the secure pages as a user or administrator. Nor does logging in as the administrator take me to the Dashboard.

Can you provide more information about what happens? Do you have error messages? If you manually type /dashboard into the URL are you taken to the Dashboard? If you check the database records does it show your login?

If I manually type in dashboard in the URL, it takes me to the generic sign page. And, then using an admin name and password, it does log me in and I can access the dashboard options and also push the back to site button to go to the home page and edit the pages and uses the tools on the secure pages. Otherwise, I get no error messages. This all happens in Chrome.

If I try it in IE, it takes me to the generic log on page, where I enter my admin user name and password and it then takes me to the dashboard. However, if I click the Return to Site button at the top of the dashboard, it takes me back to the home page, but the Concrete5 heading is gone so you can't edit the page.

I haven't tried it in Firefox.

So everything works normal in Chrome, but in IE it does not?

That sounds like a caching issue to me. In IE if you type /dashboard, login, click Return to Site and then hold CTRL and press F5 (to do a hard refresh) do the tools appear? Also, do you have caching turned off or on for the site?

I wish everything was working, but it's not. I still can't access the dashboard by just signing in as a member in the log in box at the top right of any page. I have to use the manual configuration:http://www.dwsassociates.com/dashboard.... And, once I start working on a page and then save the edits, they somehow mysteriously don't show after being published. I have to log out of browser, clear the browser cache, then go back to the page and maybe the change shows up.

Then I log back in, it takes me to the dashboard and when I try to, for example, open the sitemap to a particular page, by clicking on the plus sign next to the top level page, I get an access denied message. I logged in, at least I filled in the box with user name and pw.

This installation is just seriously broken.

Is there a way to completely reinstall this version so it starts functioning properly?

Running 5.6.3

Thanks,

Have you tried turning all of the caching off on your site, clearing the cache through the dashboard and deleting all files in the /files/cache directory?
dwsteven replied on at Permalink Reply
Yes I did and that seems to help some of the problem, but I still have to use the URLhttp://www.dwsassociates.com/dashboard... to get in. And, once in, if I click the return to website button, it takes me to the most recent page, in this case the home page, and the dashboard header and functions disappear. If I use the site map to open a page then the dashboard and edit header are there.

I continue to have problems with caching of site pages. I've tried deleting the cache in the CMS and also as you suggested going to the files directory and then deleting everything in the cache folder there. None of the pages refresh as I make changes or updates. I edit a page, save and publish it and it doesn't reflect the changes. I add a page and it doesn't show.

How do we reinstall the version of Concrete5 that I'm running so this problem gets corrected. I literally have to wait for the cached files to clear a day before changes, updates, new pages are shown.
