Concrete5 Version 8 Installation Stuck
Permalink
So my installation is freezing as soon as I put in all my information and click the start button and it never goes past "Beginning Installation". I don't have any error log generated in the root directory and nothing that I can find through cPanel logs. There are no database tables created and it seemingly just goes nowhere and does nothing... If I close the browser and go back to the page it just shows the same "Beginning Installation" screen... So it's starting the process but not going any further past that point.
This is an issue for me with both the RC2 release and the just released version.

Yes, every other version has worked with no issues for installation. I was even able to bring one site up-to-date from 5.7.3.1 by going to 5.7.4.2 -> 5.9 -> 5.10 -> 8.0
But, for what ever reason a fresh install just hangs at beginning...

Hi vGibson,
I have been facing the same problem with a fresh install of 5.8 on a vagrant box.
After several failed attempts I resorted to a CLI install which worked out well for me.
See http://documentation.concrete5.org/developers/appendix/cli-commands... for details.
It might just work for you too.

Unfortunately I do not have shell access on this hosting service and I
don't think I can fake it through CRON this time...

I have the same problem. I decided to do a fresh 5.8 install. Other versions have been installed with no problems in the past.
Edit: I installed 5.7.5.10 instead. Installation went fine.

Just wanted to say that I am able to install version 8.1.0. I didn't need to change anything so whatever the problem was, it must have been fixed. Good job!
Have you successfully installed other versions of concrete5 on this web host?
