connect to marketplace from localhost doesn't work

hello guys
i am running c5 locally on my notebook via xampp. i've always the latest version of c5 via git.
i can't seem to login to the community pages via my local version to browse the marketplace. all i get is username/password is incorrect even though they are 100% correct as i am using them here on this forum right now.....!
any hints on where to look would be great...

I guess the first question would be, which particular version are you using? Is it 5.5?
i always get the latest version via git, atm it is 5.5.0b1.
curl and allow_url_fopen is working and i am using a virtual host so this can't be the problem (as it was in other forum posts relating to my issue).
i also just checked my windows firewall and it allows outgoing connections.
grrr.

resolved in IRC,
currently the beta is running off a beta site, which is a snapshot of concrete5.org from November 8th, anyone who registered after that date by default will not have access unless they re-register on the beta site (which is temporary so don't buy anything because you won't get it)
