Dashboard not working after Upgrade to 5.6.2.1

Was running Ver 5.6.1.2. On admin login to site the dashboard indicated an upgrade available to 5.6.2.1. Did the upgrade via dashboard "System & Settings - Update concrete5." After the upgrade, when I logged in, the dashboard was in a "text" mode. The attachment is a copy of that.

I thought it was because I had skipped/missed the upgrade to 5.6.2, but that version never showed as an upgrade in the Install Local Update panel. I downloaded the concrete5.6.2.zip upgrade file and uploaded (via FTP) the concrete folder as concrete-new, renamed the existing as concrete-old, and renamed concrete-new to concrete. Then my Install Local Upgrade panel displayed:

Install Local Update
Make sure you backup your database before updating.

Several updates are available. Please choose the desired update from the list below.
Current Version 5.6.0.1
5.6.2.1
5.6.1.2
5.6.0.2

Well, I did all the upgrades (notice there is no version 5.6.2 showing) but when I went from 5.6.1.2 to 5.6.2.1 the dashboard again appeared as shown in the attachment.

So I repeated uploading the 5.6.2 concrete folder and now I'm back to the Install Local Update panel showing the Current Version 5.6.0.1 with the 5.6.2.1, 5.6.1.2, 5.6.0.2 updates available.

Any guidance on how I can to get to an operable 5.6.2.1 version will be appreciated.

Going from 5.6.1.2 directly to 5.6.2.1 is a common practice. You shouldn't need to jump through all those hoops. Whenever there is a problem like this, hit CTRL+SHIFT+i to open the Developer's Console and then choose the 'Console' tab and have a look for errors.

If there are no errors there, try right-clicking on the page and choose "View page source". Scroll down to the bottom of the page and look for a fatal error message at the bottom.

Where/when exactly do I hit CTRL+SHIFT+i to open the Developer' Console? I've tried this in many web site and dashboard pages, even in the text-type Dashboard that appeared again when I tried to upgrade to 5.6.2.1 just now. (Sure glad my host has a daily backup/retore capability.) No matter where/when I use that key-combo all that happens is my Favorites pop up and appear at the left side of my monitor (IE9 is my current browser).
