Demo Installation on c5host fails due to database details
Permalink
Hello,
I'm trying to setup a demo site on c5host. I can't get past the /index.php/install/-/setup/ page - I get the following error:
Unable to connect to database
But what database details should I give? Am I supposed to create a database - if so, where/how do I do that. At the moment, I've just been creating a random database username, password and db name (using 'localhost' as server name).
I'd really love to give this system a go, but not if even a simple demo installation is going to prove too difficult! Hopefully, I'm making a stupid mistake!
Thanks for your assistance,
Gary

Thanks Ekko,
I'm down with all that, but I'm just trying to "Try it out" on Concrete5's trial server ie. I don't have access to the backend to create a DB.
I would assume that when you setup a demo installation on Concrete5's trial server, a demo db is setup for you?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks again,
Gary

Not sure whats happening to you but I just setup a demo fine going through the link below, and no you shouldn't have to setup your own database, and it is done for you.

Right...so, did you have to enter any database details?
No you do not, just try creating a new trial site.

Well, don't know why it didn't work the first time, but I created a new account and it worked! Sorry to trouble you all.
Thanks for your help,
