Directory for install

Permalink 1 user found helpful
I successfully installed concrete5 on my host but I put it into its own directory in the directory for my website. The directory is:
bankruptcylawyerky.com/concrete5/

So, I edited the home page and want to go "live" but since it's in that subdirectory it is not showing up as my new home page. The old temporary web page is still there.

Should I reinstall Concrete5 in the bankruptcylawyerky.com directory and start over?

I am a total newbie so please be gentle.

Hi sdeatrick,

No need to reinstall. You can move your site by following these steps:http://www.concrete5.org/documentation/installation/moving_a_site...

Hope this helps!

Thank you! It helped, and I also found other questions about this same issue and I am proud to say I was able to fix it. Whew!

So far, Iam pleased with Concrete5 because it is so easy for a non-techie to use except for a few glitchy things. But, with perseverance and a little bit of intelligence, I believe anyone can figure out what needs to be done to make stuff work.

Still have a lot to learn and a long way to go to make my site beautiful and bring customers my way but I feel that I'm on the road to success.

Wish I could remember exactly what I did -- oh yeah, the final problem was that after I moved the files to the root directory and changed the config/system.php file, I had forgotten that I didn't turn off pretty urls before moving. So I had to redo that and copy the new code into the proper file as listed in the instructions. After doing that, the other pages magically appeared!

I think, since this is a common issue, it might be good to update the installation guide to help people with this in a more understandable way for us non-techies.
