Dreamhost One Click Installer - Pretty URL's

I have seen other messages about this and different resolutions. My opinion is that you should not have to make manual adjustments to a one click install.
I am using Dreamhost Fast CGI 5.2
I had to modify the htaccess file, and concrete/libraries/request.php to get the Pretty URL's to work.
There is a patch posted online to do the same thing.

I agree.
All software is in development, and systems that improve are those that learn from errors.

To anyone else reading this: we're currently working on some generated tweaks to our .htaccess file and our request library to handle this a little more gracefully. Stay tuned.. :)
thanks so much for taking the time to bring this to our attention.
we'll make sure this gets resolved.

Update x2: This works for paths but it causes problems elsewhere. I'm pulling this solution for now. Back to the drawing board. Oh well, we'll get this fixed.
Update: I think we have a fix for this in place in subversion that should come out in our next version of concrete5. Working together with cybercoder and checking out some other modified .htaccess files, I've done this:

Andrew, this worked for me on the urls but when I tried to add a page I get a page not found error now. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Yeah I noticed the same thing. I'm pulling it for now. We'll keep trying.
Yep, the only way I can get Pretty URL's and be able to Add a page on Dreamhost is to set it all back to the original code, and change my site from PHP 5.2 FastCGI to PHP 5.2
concrete5 is being actively developed so there are bound to be bugs.
