Easiest theme/install for non-nerd

Permalink 1 user found helpful
Hi people!
Nearly a year ago I DID manage to get a C5 Site up and "sort-of" working.
Unfortunately in my rage at internet problems caused by my working from Australia, I gave myself a Stroke.
Today, I'm finally back in action but with short-term memory short-circuits and thus learning problems.
************So, what I need is the easiest/simplest to install and manage, theme.

I do not understand these few things/processes right now and any help is greatly appreciated:
1. What is this "bootstrap" thing?
I thought it was a theme - which sounded great to me.
2. Isn't there a complete default installation I could just basically edit textually?
3. How do I download and install themes off C5 Site? Do they overwrite existing?

I WILL keep trying to figure it all out, but a ready-2-go setup to play with for now, would greatly help.

Cheers!

I think this might help you out:

There are a lot of guides on this site for all of your questions but I think what you're suggesting sounds as the best way for you to go. And by that I mean installing a plain installation of concrete5 to get started with.

For your questions:
1. Bootstrap is a CSS framework. It's not a theme, you are expected to modify it to your needs, i.e. technically modify the CSS of the theme. See: getbootstrap.com
2. Yes, in the default installation, you are able to select "sample content" to get you started with. I'm not sure how the auto-installers in the buget hosting page work but they might already select that for you.
3. Installed themes do not override any existing themes. Probably the easiest way for you would be to use the on-site marketplace (the marketplace experience within your own site). To use that, just browse to the "themes" section of your site once you've completed the installation and have your site up and running. Here's a bit more about connecting the site to the community which allows you to do this:

Thanks Mainio,
I'll go look at your suggestion.
I was surprised that there was no easy default startup example for C5 under softaculous.
I did expect something like WPress for a startup.
