Error Unable to connect DB

Permalink 1 user found helpful
Hi there!
I just downloaded Concrete5 and try to install it on my server. I am not php familiar - just follow all the instructions: I have a linux hosting with Cpanel (if that has matter). So I made a new directory named Concrete in public_html directory. I copied all files that I downloaded into that directory and set 777 permissions to both 'files' and 'config' folders. After that I created a database and a user connected to that DB with all permissions to the DB. So I started installation but I get the error: Unable to connect to DB
My database and user have same names. The database server is my domain name. Do I make something wrong?
Please help!

The 'server' name should be the name of your database server, not your domain name.

I hope this is just a practice install and you will be deleting it before making your actual site because with all those names being the same (when they don't need to be) it will have very weak security.

Thank you for quick reply!!
Yes, this is for demo site. I want to install Concrete and make a theme for it. After that will transfer it to actual site.... Can you help me how to find what my database server name is?
Thanks!

If you can't find the database server name in your web host's control panel, you will have to ask your web host's support people.

Thanks I found it! In linux hosting the default name for DB is localhost. So I'm in now!

Rock'n roll! ;)
