Failing on 2 prerequisites - need help to resolve please.

Hi!

I've nearly managed to get Concrete5 installed and working, just have 2 issues to resolve at the moment!

As per the attached file the issues are have are:

1) MySQL PDO Extension Enabled error
2) Writeable Files and Configuration Directories error

With regards to 2 I have run chmod -R 775 on the directories but this has not resolved the problem so need some guidance on what to do next to get this installation to work?

Thanks.
:)

The MySQL PDO Extension has to be enabled at your server level. You probably can do that from cPanel. If you're not sure, you should ask your host to do it for you.

As for the chmod, after setting it, did you check that it actually applied? some hosts have a tendency to block it or make it difficult.

Sorry I should have said, we're hosting it ourselves on CentOS 7.

I don't understand. If you're hosting it yourself you have full control over your server's configuration. Just activate the PDO extension and if anything is interfering with setting directories permission, just modify whatever setting is responsible.

What is stopping you?

Knowledge! I've been using Linux for a total of 4 days now simply typing in what a guide tells me to and learning as I do so. There are loads of websites with 'helpful' installation guides on how to install CentOS (which I understand is the business class flavour of Linux) but they simply say things like 'Install Centos With All The Required Features' which I'm sure is great if you've been using Linux for years but no good if you are a complete Novice!

I hear you.

Well my knowledge of Linus is on par with yours so that's not going to be helpful.

I have 2 suggestions that might or might not help.

The first one is ditch the server and get a nice fully managed server so professional are there to help you anytime something like this happens.

If that's not an option, the only guy I know who knows Linux is ramonleenders.

Maybe you can send him a private message and he might be able to help you. His profile ishttp://www.concrete5.org/profile/-/view/157255/...
