re-upload the /concrete directory,
thanks for the reply.
i have tried that.and to narrow down the problem i created a new site in 5.2.1, after upgrading to 5.3.1.1, file manager got corrupted and when i restore the 5.2.1 directory it seems to be ok.
i get the same problem if i go straight to 5.3.2
any ideas?
how can i do a manual upgrade instead?
or can i just install a new 5.4.1 and point it to my existing database ???

You'd probably be able to do a fresh install of 5.4.1.1 and point it to the DB. The main folders that you would have to copy over would be /files, /packages, and /themes + any other of the folders where you may have overridden defaults in the /concrete directory.

Hope that helps.

thanks Rio, there must have been some database updates. i installed 5.4.11 but when i try to login to dashboard a table missing in the db, i get this error
--------
mysql error: [1146: Table 'concrete.collectionversionblockstyles' doesn't exist] in EXECUTE("select csrID from CollectionVersionBlockStyles where cID = '5' and cvID = '1' and csrID > 0")
--------
any work arounds?
i want to try manual update instead of running the script but have no clue how..
