FTP help

Hello,
I have just downloaded concrete5 and I am trying to upload it to my server to install. Every time I FTP a bunch of files fail to transfer. I have hosting through domain.com. I believe it is some sort of permissions issue. I have a site that is live under /webspace/httpdocs should I put the files there or just on my root? Thanks for any help.
