Go Daddy issues
PermalinkI know that there is a help tutorial in how-tos on installing on Go daddy, but i still have issues.
I get the error that packages, config and files folders must be chmoded. I did the C5 upload twice, and on both occasions the packages folder was not created. I created it myself, but why it was not created?
More importantly, no matter what permissions is set, i still get the error message.
The client bought windows hosting, could it be the issue?
Thanks,
Mirko
I can't help you with getting C5 working on a Windows/IIS installation... but I do know that GoDaddy will switch your customer's account from Windows to Linux hosting pretty easily (they can call customer support)... and I know that C5 works just fine on Linux at GoDaddy.
Hope that helps.

I already asked godaddy support if migration is possible, and they answered yes, and that it could be done in 72 hours, depending on number of files. Since there is nothing installed, i think i could change very quickly.
But in the meantime i managed to get to installation part, somehow i got all my folders to be writable and there is no more error messages.
But during the installation, it just stops after some 30% and presents me with this error: Error: Invalid Jobs Directory D:\Hosting\9248124\html/jobs
I tried two times, and always the same error. Do you have any clue what it means?
If i don't get past this i will change to Linux.
Thanks,
Mirko
Sorry!
Switch to Linux my friend and save yourself a lot of embarrassment with your client...
Think to the future. In a years time Conrete5.6 will be released, you upgrade and get a problem (I am sure most upgrades proceed smoothly, but lets assume you become one of the unfortunate ones that are on the forums at this moment). So, with a site broken by an incomplete upgrade you ask for help on the forums.
"Sorry, don't have any Windows IIS experience, cant help you (but I could if you were on Linux/Apache)" will be the reply you get for just about any system or hosting related problem you post.
I managed to install it by creating all the empty directories by hand.
It seems that godaddy's extract tool doesn't create empty folders.
I uploaded my theme, and when trying to activate it i get this error:
Server Error in '/' Application.
Runtime error
...........and so on
This is typical Windows error, so i did a little search and it seems that there have been people in the past with this problem, C5+IIS+theme activation = big problem.
I'm fed up, changing to Linux, hopefully i won't see any of these problems.
Please guys, the client will think i'm an idiot, being not able to install Concrete5.
Does anyone know how to install C5 on windows hosting(IIS)?
Anyone please...help!!
