GODADDY installations

Permalink 4 users found helpful
Hey everyone.

I have seen a lot of posts on installation problems with GoDaddy. I host a lot there. Not by choice anymore but I do have clients that like their pricing and I have to convince them over time to move to a more robust C5 blazing server (C5's servers as an example).

The NUMBER ONE thing you MUST ensure you have on your GoDaddy install is the "php5.ini". NOTE the 5. If all you have is php.ini it wont work properly. Add the 5 and it should work just fine.

If you don't have the right php5.ini file for godaddy, let me know and I will send you a copy of mine. Works every time.

I am having installation problems with GoDaddy - getting the dreaded "Cannot parse PATH_INFO..." . I tried changing php.ini to php5.ini but no change. Is there something that needs to be changed within the file?

Thanks!

What's your server config?

The account I've tested was:

==========
OS/Hosting Type: Linux/Shared Hosting
Hosting Configuration: 2.0
PHP Version: PHP 5.x
==========

Make sure your "Hosting Configuration" is 2.0 and PHP 5.x.

You can check it under Hosting Dashboard (Control Panel)

When enabled SSH access, and GoDaddy automatically upgraded the server.

I installed concrete5 afterward, and I have no problem with it. No error message at all.

I'm having a problem with my installation of concrete5 on godaddy. All of the files are accurate. I contacted godaddy and they said I had done everything accurate. But when I go to the url to install it says there is an error with Web Server Access to Files and Configuration Directories - The config/, packages/ and files/ directories must be writable by your web server.
I made those changes too and still not working! Please help this is driving me crazy!

Read this How-To

http://www.concrete5.org/documentation/how-tos/developers/concrete5...

if you still have problems let me know. GoDaddy doesn't know very much about Concrete5 and their support staff is horrible. If you haven't spent a lot of money on your hosting, cancel and go with a more friendly hosting provder.

It's no problem installing C5 on Godaddy. You need a PAID hosting plan. If it has the banners across the top that say godaddy free hosting it won't work.

You need
Linux/Shared Hosting

Hosting Configuration 2.0, 2.1, 2.2 all work fine.

PHP 5.x

Create a php5.ini file in the same directory that C5 is installed in and have this line in it:

cgi.fix_pathinfo = 1

After you make the php5.ini file wait about 30 minutes for changes to take effect.

Upload an Unarchive the C5 zip file with the Godaddy file manager, then follow the C5 installation instructions.

Not sure if this will work anymore. You may have to change the file name to
be php5.ini. GoDaddy has been making changing to the way their servers are
working and I know long host with them.

I will help if I can.
