GoDaddy Shared Linux Hosting Install Issues
Permalink
I have searched entire forum and all the patches I have found did nothing for me.
I cannot get past "install concrete" screen. Test are all ok except "Support for C5 Request URLs - Concrete cannot parse the PATH_INFO or ORIG_PATH_INFO information provided by your server."
This install is driving me nuts and I've asked a friend for help and he too is stumped. This was a new install, never used C5 before now and didn't think I would have this much trouble installing a CMS. I did the php5.ini and still nothing. I am about to dump this and forget about it.

and, would you mind adding a file named "phpinfo.php" to the same directory, that contains the <?phpinfo();?> command?
my url ishttp://www.burning-webdesign.com/test... and phpinfo.php in on the root (http://www.burning-webdesign.com/phpinfo.php). I have removed the first install and uploaded all files again and still same error.
I see what the problem is.
C5 doesn't like the ad that Godaddy serves at the top of every page. There are some pages we load that we expect to be in a very strict format. Unfortunately, Godaddy pukes all over that strict format by adding ads in the free hosting.
For example - this is the URL we're loading on the installation screen behind the scenes:
http://www.burning-webdesign.com/test/index.php/install/-/test_url/...
We are expecting JUST to get back {response: 40} but we're getting back an ad at the top. The ad loading will kill any number of pages, as well as the c5 sitemap, which is javascript/ajax based.
I had this problem on Godaddy too until I used a non-free, non-ad-supported account.

Ok, so I have to pay for hosting in order for this to work....
Since there were patches to previous GoDaddy issues, is there a chance that someone will write a patch for this issue then include it in the next release?
I have used many other CMS on my free hosted account and never had this problem.

Nope.
Please see readme at the top of this forum.
it's MIT license so if someone /else/ wants to spend their time putting together a patch to improve c5 for the digi-ghetto, we'll review it and include it one day if it looks safe.
thx!

ok.. not a prob.. i um, yeah didn't read that.. heheh mybad.
no worries, we're just somewhat spread thin with all the c5 needs and while we'd love to make it the simplest thing for everyone to have anywhere - that's just not in the cards today.
you can play with a free demo for 15 days at
http://getconcrete5.org/demo - and only pay $15/month if you want it.
I think pair.com will over you even cheaper rates and help get c5 behaving if you ask them.
gluck - i really do hope you figure out a way to get it working for you - i'm sure you'd like it,

I am having the same problem with Godaddy. I do have a paid account though. Ultimate account with unlimited additional hosted domains. My error is:
1. Support for C5 Request URLs
Concrete cannot parse the PATH_INFO or ORIG_PATH_INFO information provided by your server.
Now, the domain I am trying to load to is a subdomain. I have installed successfully wordpress and others and they are subdomains under my domain. Everything checks out except for this last error. I am anxious to get concrete loaded as I like the looks of it. anyone have any ideas? To get ti install page my URL looks like thishttp://mydomain.com/mycustomerdomain/concrete5.4.1.1.... I get to concrete install page with no problems except for the one noted above.
