Homepage Problem after Upgrade to 5.4.2

I have upgraded to 5.4.2 and thus far only encountered one problem. The main section of the homepage (i am using the dark chocolate theme) has decided that it would rather live in the left sidebar section along with the "add to main" section that allows you to add new blocks. So the main section is just totally blank!
The page is editable. The only thing i an see wrong is that the main section aint where it ought to be!
I am just the poor sod who gets the job of maintaining our swimming club website and i am no programmer so i apologise now for my lack of knowledge.
I think the homepage is this theme is controlled by the default.php file. I have compared the 5.4.2 version to the copy of the 5.4.1.1 version and they are identical.
The site is a very simple one and nothing fancy has been done to the theme other that a couple of colour changes
I would appreciate any help to try and fix this problem asap as the homepage looks rather silly at the moment :-((
2 pics attached. One show the top of the page so you can see the main section is blank. The other shows the bottom of the page where you can see the main section has gone to the left sidebar.

I'd start with looking at the 6 HTML validation errors:
