Thanks for the quick tip, it helped.
I do have a few questions though.
What's the difference between just a theme and a package?
Why don't some themes have the "Save for later" option? (that would eliminate the above steps)
Thanks again everyone in the C5 community!

When I go to my Themes/Pages section of the dashboard, my theme is there, the install button is next to it, but it doesn't install...
help?
help?
@dibbc:
Packages can contain more than just the theme, it can contain stuff such as other custom templates, blocks, single_pages etc, also, Packages have version numbers while Themes alone do not

First time installation, really thanks for the clarification...
I do just that, but the theme or package doesn´t show up in dashboard. Since I cannot connect to community, as there is an unresolvable "your site token must be 64 charakters" error, I connot install any themes or packages ..
Did that and got an error message view.php AND default.php not found can anyone out there tell me how to create those files and within the theme folder where to put them ??? riverhooks
please only post once
There is nothing more annoying than stuff that does not work. I have just bought a theme from C5 market place and I cannot get the thing installed. One of the things that drives me stir fry crazy is developers that some up with different ways of doing things.
You should contact the developer using the associated support page for the theme in the marketplace.
While I cant speak specifically about whatever theme you are having problems with, anything in the marketplace has been through a thorough review and testing process by experienced developers and the core c5 team.
Such a process can never be perfect. Every site is different, so there is always a risk of a combinations of c5 version, host, site, content, addons, themes and overrides coming together in a way that leads to a problem (when put like that, it makes me wonder why anything ever works).
The mark of a good developer is not just how thoroughly they develop something in the first place, but how quickly and meticulously they sort out subsequent problems (which there always will be).

you have to upload the .zip file to your hosting provider and then unzip it from there, not from your computer. thats why its not showing up for some of you. if not you could just sign up and do it much quicker.
There are several folders named "themes" - none in my root directory! Should I create one?
Say my root is : /web/concrete5/
I have several "themes" directories:
/web/concrete5/application/themes (empty)
/web/concrete5/concrete/themes (several sub-directories: concrete, core,
dashboard, elemental, greek_yoghurt)
/web/concrete5/updates (still contains "concrete5-8.4.0RC4" but upgrade
that way didn't work... I had to copy)
/web/concrete5/packages (empty)
Some other files in the "root" directory : "composer.json", "composer.lock" (big enough!), "index.php" (that's why I think it's the "root" directory ?), "LICENSE.TXT" and "robots.txt".
Please, can you tell me which directory is the right one?
THX!

This thread is from 2009 and the structure of the old Concrete5 was different than it is in the current. If you have a theme that you are trying to upload from the marketplace you want to put it into the packages directory (/packages/package_name/controller.php) if you're just uploading a theme that isn't in a package you should put it into the application/themes directory (/application/themes/theme_name/view.php)
Many Thanks! Now, it's Okay!
thank you... I receive this error after I followed your instruction to upload the theme folder to /applications/themes. Theme installed properly (although there was no name (title) or thumbail to the theme package... i activate, and receive the following
An unexpected error occurred.
No file found to render template with handle "full"
http://http://64.20.38.14/
thanks again

You may be lacking a default.php file. What theme are you using? If you built your own upload it here for a better answer.
I have the same problem I use the replica theme
if the theme is packaged like the ones in the marketplace you put them in the /packages folder you know its a package if it has a controller.php in it
