.htaccess file gone :(

I deleted my .htaccess file along time ago not even thinking about it. I use Bluehost for my Domains and I tried uploading a simple .htaccess file and now i am getting server errors. I have no idea how to get this .htaccess file back but i need it in order to change the upload limit for the file manager in C5. If you can tell me how to get a new .htaccess that would be great or if you can tell me how to change my file limit using bluehost that would be great. thanks

if you had pretty url's on you need to copy and paste the code from the dashboard into it

Hey, I did that and now I have this error message:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, roseland@pair.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

... I'm guessing if I could somehow delete the .htaccess file (which is now hidden) and undo the prettyURL settings in the dashboard (which is now inaccessible and just displays this error message), everything would be A-OK.

Otherwise, I just put the finishing touches on my website and with this master stroke destroyed it completely.

Help. I tried to install an RSS program and as soon as it installed, I tried to log into my C5 account and I receive the error message mentioned in this string. Also, when I go to my website, it's completely gone. All I have is the generic template from my hosting company that was there on day 1.

How do I undo all the damage I did by simply installing the SimpleScript RSS program?

What is the code inside your .htaccess file?

I would first evaluate the damage. When you FTP into your account do you have any Concrete5 files (eg, index.php /concrete /config, etc...). If Concrete5 is still there and intact, maybe just a little trouble shooting will be necessary. If the RSS software install did wipe out your entire site, have your web host reload your site from backup.

It was a simple mistake I'll have to keep in mind going forward. The hosting rep was able to fix it both times it happened. When I installed an RSS program from SimpleScripts, I didn't like it and uninstalled it a minute later. Apparently, when I installed the program, it attached itself to my existing files. When I uninstalled it, the program took everything it touched with it. Thought it was as simple as removing an unneeded program from my computer. Boy was I wrong. The first time they fixed it, they replaced the PHP file (I think it was). The second time, the rep must not have been as talented because he had to replace my site with an older version they had in their backup system. Either way, I'm happy and relieved.

This all started because I was trying to install my own outbound RSS feed. For anyone over-thinking it like I did, it was as simple as inserting a "Page List" from my normal content items. 'Create an RSS feed' is one of the options in each 'Page List'. Thanks for replying. The C5 community is wonderful.

Fantastic. I am so glad you got it straightened out. Staring at a blank site scares the heck out of me. This is a wonderful community and growing fast. Thanks for posting your resolution as it may help/save someone in the future.

That sounds horrible. But concrete's marketplace does have RSS programs that are made for concrete, which are made to be installed and uninstalled.
