Images not showing in File Manager on C5-hosted site (not live yet)

Hi,

I've just transferred a site to a client's C5 hosting package and all the images in the File Manager aren't appearing - see attached screenshot.

The images have this path:

<img src="/~username/files/thumbnails/3413/3010/3849/ec-_0047_about-us-duncan-nicholls-va.jpg" border="0">

Can anyone see what's up? Is it because I'm working on a temporary URL?

Thanks

Osu

Can anyone help with this?

Hi,

please check the file permissions on the host. I think the webserver
can't read them.

Kind regards
Blacky

Hi,

Can you tell me how my permissions should be set? What do I need to change? The Files folder is set to 755...

I've noticed that it's the thumbnails in the File Manager that aren't showing - is there a way of reindexing / recreating the thumbnails?

Thanks,

Osu

Ok, rescanning the images in the File Manager seems to be helping, however, I can't upload new files to my site unless I set the /files/ folder to 777, but surely that's a big security problem?

The sub folders within /files/ are all set to 755 which I assume /files/ should also be set to right?

*EDIT* Despite trying to recursively set /files/ and all subfolders to 777, I STILL can't upload files because of this error message:

Unable to copy file to storage directory. Please check permissions on your upload directory and ensure they can be written to by your web server.

By the way, I'm using Concrete5's hosting.

Thanks for any pointers,

Osu

Ok, i never tried the hosting you`re mentioning, but as you described it in last post, it seems like php safe mode is on.
Contact your hosting provider and i bet you can sort this out.

Thanks for getting back to me and for the suggestion - I sent a request into support (hosting on Concrete5's hosting package), and they went in and fixed the permissions issue I was having.

Nope, just forgot to close the thread, but your suggestion is useful as that's a good thing to check.

Cheers
