Initial install of 5.7.3.1 at GoDaddy
Permalink
Be gentle, I'm new here.
I'm trying to set up 5.7.3.1 at GoDaddy. I can create an empty site without problems but if I try and create the 'default' populated site I get an 'Internal Server Error' about 2/3rds of the way through the install. Looking in the server error log doesn't really tell me much other than a suspicious permissions error on 'missing.html'.
Anyone else run into this or have ideas?
Thanks.

Hi, Thanks for the advice! Unfortunately my client has been with GoDaddy for many years and we are just experimenting with various CMS's so changing hosts for an experiment isn't likely to happen.
I ran the install again and the error occurs during the 'Importing Files' step. I'll continue to putter, and see what I find.
Thanks.

Aside from debugging the issue directly you might try a workaround by installing C5 locally then exporting the DB and uploading files to your GD account. Presuming you can install C5 locally, you just need to export the database and import it into your GD database. Then update the database config file with your username/password... or use the same username/password combination when you make the site locally if that's possible for you.
It occurs to me we should put a "blank" C5 db somewhere, basically an export of the C5 db immediately after install.

Thanks for the tip. That sounds like something to try!

Has there been any progress on this I am experiencing the same issue with getting the 500 internal Server error. I am moving a new site from my dev server to the client's Godaddy windows based server (cant change this at the moment)
If I manually install the db with PHPMyAdmin the public site works fine. However I can not publish edits to pages, I get the Godaddy 500 (Internal Server) Error default screen in the Concrete5 error dialogue box. Also I will get the same error page when trying to access parts of the Dashboard. Accessing the Dashboard is an intermittent problem, sometimes I can access interior dashboard pages and sometimes I get the 500 (Internal Server) Error default godaddy page.
When I try to do a fresh install into an empty database I get the 500 (Internal Server) Error default page during the Permissions & Workflow and the installation doesn't finish.

If you want my honest opinion, I would insist that your client move away from GoDaddy. I have lost a lot of money trying to service clients on GoDaddy so I now refuse to take those jobs on. You cannot possibly charge your client for the time lost fighting with GoDaddy.
So I wouldn't be surprised if you get advice that before you begin to set up a site that you choose a different host. A few bucks more on hosting can save hours of pain and frustration.
