Install C5 on my computer?
I'm confused about where to install C5. I assumed I'd install it on my desktop. So I downloaded the package. I want to create my site here and upload the website to my host later. But now I'm wondering if it needs to be at the host, instead. Walt
Thanks for the link to the very nicely detailed instructions. As I understand it, I need to set my computer up as a server. But ultimately, I want to have my websites at my host's servers. I do not want to have my desktop connected to the internet as a server for my sites.
I'm fine with using C5 from my host (Hostgator) but I thought that would tie my several websites to them forever. I've already built 3 sites using C5 at Hostgator. I'd like my websites to be moveable to another host if I should decide to do that, and I'm thinking that their incarnation of C5 would have some Hostgator proprietary code making transfer away not possible. Perhaps I'm wrong, but that is why I was thinking it is best to develop my sites on my computer, then upload them to Hostgator.
