Installation problem - index.php starts to download

Hi, I'm installing concrete5 on a MediaTemple dedicated virtual server. After uploading all the files, checking and setting permissions, and writing a .htaccess to enable mod_rewrite, when I go to the page it tries to download the index.php file and I can't see the start screen?
Anyone else have this trouble or any advice?

I figured it out. There was a htaccess file in the root above my C5 install with a line about php4. I removed that and it's fine.
