Installation Issues
Permalink
I have spent an hour or so looking through related topics but no clear solution on how to resolve the dreaded "unable to connect to server" at installation of concrete5.
All the requirements are fine (green ticks) and all the database info supplied is correct. I have 5 Wordpress databases using the same host without problems. (Also tried just localhost to no avail)

I am lost for ideas, never had problems installing a CMS before.
Would greatly appreciate ideas to solve this ( I think I am not alone)
Thanks in advance for help/time.
cheers

I cannot "CHMOD" the folders needed
(I use FileZilla for FTP)

In ftp clients you often times set permissions on a folder or file by right clicking on it and going to set permissions or properties.
Unfortunately I'm not a FileZilla user, so I can't tell you directly how to do it, but hopefully this nudges you in the right direction.

Did you get this figured out?
jereme is right about filezilla. right click the folder or file and choose properties. this should enable you to set file permissions. I would recommend dropping filezilla and using WinSCP. same stuff only it's secure!

Revisiting this post. I have since been able to install Concrete5 on a number of servers. I discovered that in some Cpanel configurations you need to link the database created for Concrete5 to a database user. So make sure a user with sufficient rights is active before attempting setup.

But again, this is a question for whoever your server admin is. Good luck.
