installation problem

i tried several times to install the software on host server. i upploaded with filezilla ftp and i changed chmod to 755 to all files. now i want to install and it say that
" Web Server Access to Files and Configuration Directories
The config/, packages/ and files/ directories must be writable by your web server." i tried all i knew pls hepl..

Change them to "777" for packages/, config/ and files/.

I don't understand why you're saying that Andrew. All Concrete5 versions from 5.1 to 5.3.3.1, I did with chmod755 and it always works. My Web Hosting never allowed to do chmod 777; he said that it is totally wrong and not necessary to do that, 'cause it not a good way to do things in a sense of security.

Can you explain me what you're talking about, 'cause I'm with the most biggest Web Hosting in Canada?

A big thank Andrew,
the problem disappeared after I've changed the open_basedir to "none".

Anyway your suggestion has solved my second problem.
Into the same page I have seen a stop icon for "Web Server Access to Files and Configuration Directories".
After I've changed the permissions from 755 to 777 this problem has been fixed.
