Manually migrating broken 5.7 site

Concrete5.7.5.8 is running on an seven year old box running PHP5. Attempting to both upgrade it and migrate it to another machine, I inadvertently broke something which results in a Class CategoryTreeNodeKey does not exist error. I am 99% sure the DB and various files are intact.
Instead of first trying to repair it, then upgrade it so PHP7 will work, and then migrate it to a new server, I wish to install a new Concrete5 instance on the new machine, and then move over the content from the DB and various files.
What are the steps to do so? Should I first make a Concrete5.7.5.13 installation, update with content, and then migrate to version 8, or go straight to version 8?

You need to go the repair/upgrade route. You can only move some content between sites and even then you need a working site to export from.
Thanks John. After repair, upgrade to latest 5.7 version before going to 5.8?
Sequence requirements are in the release notes. Essentially yes, 5.7.5.latest, then I think straight to v8 latest. But please double check the notes.
