Missing default Navigation as well as pictures from default install

I did some searching but couldn't hit on the proper keywords to find an existing solution so I'm going to put up my question.

I just did a fresh install on pauljosephmorin.com and according to the validation page everything went smoothly. However when I go to the page, there is no navigation at the top of the page (or anywhere for that matter) and the pictures from the default Plain Yogurt theme are not there.

All the requisite files/folders seem to have been given the correct permissions (I actually went through and 755'ed a series of them) as far as I can tell. Page creation and all the other dashboard functions seem to work correctly. It's just the navbar and top pictures that seem to be gone.

Any ideas what I've done wrong? Oh - 1and1.com hosting with php5 enabled through an .htaccess file if that matters.

It sounds like you installed without the sample content. You should still be able to add pages and add blocks to the pages though? Is that the case?

I can indeed - you have hit it on the head. However, the part that concerns me is the complete lack of navigation regardless of content.

Should I merely reinstall with content to have the navigation bar appear? Just a id10t error?

I had something similar happen to me, i put it down to not installing sample content but I'd have expected your navigation to reflect the pages you added.

Have you tried swapping themes (I think) there are a couple included with C5.

I have added pages, but the nav section remains stubbornly empty. I'm going to try a wipe and reinstall with content.

Reinstalled with content and the problem was solved. Newest version of Concrete5 (5.4.1.1) as an FYI.

Have you checked if those images are actually in the theme folder? (/concrete/themes/default)
if they aren't then I suggest you redownload a concrete enviroment, delete the template, uninstall it/
upload a new one with the images in it and install that one, see if it then works correctly.
