Mosaic Theme call to action help

When I added an image to my call to action blocks a white space appears around the image, which shouldn’t happen. I have been using png images for the rest of the site and have never had this problem before, any advice?

also could someone please explane how to best utolize the call to action within the Global secion in the scrapbook, i could use some step by step instructions for that?
