Move updatefolder to root

I have updated C no 5.6. Can I now move all folders from 5.6 to the main core to replace the files from the other version to avoid having 2 copies of c5 ? If not, can I just backup my database , make a new install for 5.6 restor the database or will that cause some issues ?
