Moving a site in 5.5
PermalinkI'm simply trying to move the installation to a different directory on my server.
Thanks.

I like the new version... just missing a few tweaks.
My biggest gripe with C5 is that there seems to be so much outdated tutorial information on the site. They need to do some housecleaning.
Personally I have never succeed at moving a C5 site.

To move the files, I use my host's Control Panel->File Manager and highlight all the files & folders in the C5 sub-directory and move them to where I want them to go. Perhaps it would be a good idea to get some experience first by moving your site to another sub-directory to see how it all works.
Before you move it to the root, back up your existing site because you will overwrite it when you move the new site to the root.
I have also found that I have better luck if I DON'T move the .htaccess file from the C5 sub-directory. I create a blank .htaccess file in the new location and then let C5 create the proper entries in it when I turn Pretty URLs back on.
Post back if you have any troubles.
