Moving to a new server issues
Permalink
Hello there,
We are (very slowly) working on a new Concrete5 based site. But not in a huge rush, so I'm coming back and forth to C5 over a period of months...
We recently moved to a new dedicated server and I didn't think to check with Concrete5 to see if there was specific migration procedure. I see now that there is, but I wonder if I could get some help...
Here is what we did. Slave the old server drive to the new server. Copied the C5 directory over to the same location on the new server, while preserving file permissions, etc.
The C5 database was previously exported and saved and then a new database was created and all the data inserted. And a database user was added to that database making sure it matched the info in the config file (but our new machine was a cpanel one so we had to have a database prefix - but the config file was updated to reflect this).
Now...
When I go to my main page there is no content where there used to be content.

Any idea why? Should my steps have worked properly? Or am I missing something?

Fixed it I see?
Can you please post your solution, it will likely be helpful for others!
Hah! I'm coming back to this in the morning after doing some other work on the server and I see it's now fixed. Let's see, here are some things I did on my server... I noticed pdo_mysql, mcrypt, and gd weren't enabled in php, so I did that and recompiled php.
I -may- have changed the permissions on some directories in my public_html dir.... (I was tinkering around with some other stuff so I can't remember it all).
But in short, there wasn't anything I did to concrete or the database, but tinkering around with the server settings.
