New server - cant install

I have a new dedicated server & I am making a new site from scratch.

I have uploaded my new c5 files to the directorywww.www.xxxxxx.com/testarea/demo...
I have installed the Database.
All permissions are set to 777

When I visitwww.www.xxxxxx.com/testarea/demo... I get a 500 error.

Mod.rewrite is enabled and I have also triedwww.www.xxxxxx.com/testarea/demo/index.php...

But nothing works.

Am Im failing to do something..?
(I am trying to access the setup screen for creating a new site)
