not self-explanatory

Oh yeah? And how about for those of us where the Install Page is NOT "pretty self-explanatory"?

Do you have a post somewhere to find more info?

Can you elaborate on this post a little more under the Install Instructions?

-When I "name my site", is that what shows up on the browser tab? Or is that the dot-com version name of my site it wants?
-What server do I put in? I'm hosted with Dreamhost. Do I have to find that info from them?
-What the heck is a "MySQL"?
-I didn't know I had a Database, let alone what its name is. So I have no idea what to put there.

Could you please put some Help Hover Question Mark things over each item to explain to the dumbest of us where we find this info, or at very least a new post that helps describe it all?

Hi candacejean,

I'm guessing that you were trying to follow the instructions on this page,http://www.concrete5.org/documentation/installation/installing_conc... and got confused? Hopefully I can help you clear up some things.

The site name is basically just used internally on your website and you can change it at any time. You can really name this whatever you want. For instance, if you were creating a site called mytestblog.com you would probably just set something like "My Test Blog" as the site name. It doesn't have anything to do with the URL of the website. The URL of the site is called the domain name and that is something that is not configured through concrete5. I've never used DreamHost before, but it looks like you can buy domain names through them athttp://www.dreamhost.com/domains/.... Another option is namecheap.com. You will want to talk to your host or domain name provider about how you can point your domain name to your concrete5 website.

Regarding your questions about the Server, Database, MySQL, etc., Concrete5 requires a database to store all of the content of the website (blocks, users, etc.). So the server field is asking what server your database lives on. MySQL is the database software that concrete5 uses. So you will need to create a MySQL database in your dreamhost account control panel. Then the server will be the server your database is on. I found some instructions on how to create a MySQL database with dreamhost here:http://wiki.dreamhost.com/MySQL#Creating_a_MySQL_Database_with_Drea...

When you create your MySQL database you will also have to create a MySQL user that has permissions to that database. I believe the link I just mentioned goes over that as well. So that is what the MySQL User and MySQL password fields are asking for.

Does that help clear up what the fields are asking for? If you need help with Dreamhost specific things like creating the database and database users you might want to also check out DreamHost's support.

Hope that helps!
