Ok sorry for another newbie question

I would like to install concrete 5 and start to build my website.
I am trying to install by following the instructions within the readme file, the 1st line is telling me:
1. Make sure your config/ directory is writable by a web server. (Note, this is the config/ directory in the root of the archive
On my root directory I am not seeing config even when i do a search it's not found, i'm using cpanel and my host is on linux/apache 2

any ideas or am i just not understanding the text?

thanks,

not in the root of your filesystem, in the root of your web directory. There were you extracted the Concrete5 files.

It might happen that it doesn't get created because it's empty. Some unzip tools behave like that...

It's supposed to be there where you can see index.php as well

Thanks, i think that will work, one small problem though, i woke up this morning bleary eyed and install zikula by mistake, i was supposed to be installing concrete5, now can i install concrete aswell or will i have to remove the installation of zikula first.
Sorry i got a little confused after spending the whole of yesterday trying to figure out which cms to use.

Thanks in advance

May want to make sure you've got the software in the right directoy... I see in the error's "/public_html/public_html/"
unless you specified the DIR_REL (in site.php) to be public_html... I don't think it was uploaded to the correct folder, not sure if that is introducing any errors.
Unless you added that line to the site.php or it was added incorrectly. It is definitely looking for a subfolder of public_html called public_html...

Also - typically you're not going to have the public_html folder in the URL of your site, even if it is installed in that folder.

Stefanm,
You might want to try and start over. delete whatever folder you had concrete in. re-create the folder (public_html/concrete5 for example) and then unzip a clean copy of concrete into that folder. Try using the "legacy" file manager of your cpanel. it does a better job of unzipping without truncating information. Then point your browser to:www.www.yoursite.com/yourfolder/... (where 'yoursite.com' is your site and 'yourfolder' is the folder you put the c5 install in)
This should give you the concrete5 creation page. It will prompt you for username, DB name, etc... make sure that your password and username have no special characters in them.
if that URL doesn't yield anything trywww.www.yoursite.com/yourfolder/index.php...

good luck - it's worth the effort.

now as i process the install, i get the message unable to connect to database, i think i could be giving incorrect server information, any ideas?

Cancel that, quick search revealed localhost is the server name!
