Post-Installation permissions changes?

Hi!
I just installed Concrete5 on my testing server, with help from my hosting provider.
They suggested after installation that I change the permissions of
site.php
from 777 to 600. Is this advisable?
I did follow their 2nd bit of advice about using a password code generator.
No point to attach the email - it's in German
