URGENT! Pretty URLs issue

My old C5 (5.6) is the current site while I rebuild it on v.8. I am trying to turn on the pretty URL in v8 but get an error message. I looked at the tutorial about adding the code to the htaccess, however in my Public_html file, the rewrites are already there for my domain. When I browse through the different folders for v8 I do not see any other htaccess options.... any suggestions? Help would be very appreciated.
HELP....now I can not log in to my v8 site at all!! I get a 404 error! I tried to install the backup SEE ATTACHMENT. Could checking the pretty urls box in v8 have a major issue with my other c5 (5.6) which already had the automatic htaccess code?. My webhost can not help me in this situation due to the nature of softaculous backups (they said).

This issue sounds like it will be hard to troubleshoot without looking at the server files and setup.
