Recover Concrete5 with Only Database

Hi,

One of my servers just cleared out the file directory and so I have only the database of a Concrete5 install.

Is it possible to recover from this point to a previous state? Has anyone got any instructions or have done this before?

Cheers
Jude

This all depends on what your site content was. If you had a lot of photos, videos and other files you will need to recreate those yourself (including themes and overrides).

If you just have used marketplace add-ons and themes then it should be pretty easy to recreate your site.

Not to point out the obvious, but since I have no idea of your knowledge level or hosting environment, make sure that no backups exist.

Obviously it's probably safe to say that you don't have any, or you'd have used them already, but if you haven't asked your host if they have any available, definitely go ahead and do that first. Even if it's a month or months old, it would probably be helpful.

Thanks for your reply.

Yeah no backups exist.

I got an install working on local host with very similar to online settings and then files copied the up but to the working database... this seems to have done the trick although there are some bugs / config issues.

So I made a backup of the database. Cleared everything.
Fresh install and restored from the DB. This seems to be great... obviously you lose all your images and stuff but thats a given since the files were cleared.

Lesson 1: Make Backups of the files regularly!
Lesson 2: Turn off auto sync!
