Required PHP extension not found : mcrypt

I tried to install Concrete5 8.4.4 using inMotion's Softaculous installer, and in the initial stage of installation I get the following message:

The following errors were found : Required PHP extension not found : mcrypt

I'm using PHP 7 at present since I heard that 7.3 doesn't support mcrypt.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction. Complete newb here.

The PHP mcrypt extension needs to be activated.
