Sample Content

Permalink 2 users found helpful
Hi All,

I installed and configured a C5 installation for a client but I forgot to deselect the "install sample content" option. We've already roll it out for limited production roll and we are expecting users to leave comments within the next hour. So, I can't go back and re-install C5.

Does anyone know of a way to re-configure the code so that sample content is not added to a new page when created by my client? I'm hoping it's a matter of changing some code in one of the core files.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Brett

Hmmm that is a toughy. I'm not quite sure their is a workaround it. I did that once too accidentally and had to erase the sample contents manually instead of erasing the whole database and starting from scratch. If you plan to do that, please make sure to back up your Database BEFORE doing any major erasing.

Thanks mcmspi,
I may have to try that too. Thanks for the advice, I'll make sure to do a back up if I start playing with the database.

The sample content is only installed once (unless de-selected). New pages in the install will not have any sample content in them.

For some reason, each time I create a new page, there is sample content in it. And the sample content is different depending on the page type. There doesn't seem to be an easy way to remove it. I may have to bite the bullet and do a complete re-install if I can't remove it from the database successfully.

You'll want to remove the sample content from the Page Defaults -- go to Dashboard -> Pages and Themes -> Page Types, click on the "Defaults" button for each page type and remove the blocks from each of those default pages.
