Site running slow

Hi,
My site is running really slow, especially the home page.Some tests I've done can range from 15seconds- 40 seconds in time to load. The home page is under 1mb. Is there anything I can do to improve this?. I'm not that tech smart so I don't really understand the technical side of web building. Can any one help me?. Loads in about 2 seconds here. My guess is your web-host is experiencing load issues on the server you're on. You could bug them about the poor performance your site is having or look for a new host.
