Site Transfer Configuration

I recently transferred our domain to a new host. Since this has happened, I have been unable to log into the Concrete5 editing software. I spoke with the new host, and they said that it might be due to a configuration issue. Maybe the software was not up to date to run on their platform?
That being said - I know there are a number of articles out there discussing configurations, however, it is a foreign language to me, and I am looking for some layman's terms...
Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Is your website functioning properly? (other than being able to log in) can you browse the pages of your website ok? any errors?

Everything is working properly - there was a small amount of data that was not transferred (one of the pages) but it wasn't an issue because it was easily duplicated.

What happens when you try to log in? When you say 'Unable to log into Concrete5', what do you mean? Be as detailed as possible.

So when I try to log in - the screen refreshes, and a red error comes up that says 'User Name and/or password are invalid'. And this is immediately after I have 'reset' the password through their system.

If everything else is working you may have corrupted the PASSWORD_SALT in config/site, so making all logins unusable.
