SUPER C5 newbie question about admin login.
Permalink 1 user found helpful
FYI, I'm a newbie to C5, but moderately tech savvy.
So, I installed C5 on my host (setup the SQL database & passwords), selected Greek Yogurt, began to edit, saved my edits, then logged out. Simple so far!
I tried to log back into my site and it's NOT accepting my Admin credentials. OK, so I tried the "forgot password", and it is NOT sending me an email.
Hmmmm, maybe I did something wrong??
Let's start again. I deleted C5, deleted the SQL database, re-installed everything, MADE SURE my Admin user name & password were correct, then logged out.
AGAIN, I cannot get back into the site with my Admin credentials AND the "forgot password" is not sending me an email.
Guys, I KNOW this should work, but it's not ... WTF!?! ... this isn't even complicated yet!
My question is: Has anyone heard of issues with the Admin login?? I feel like a schmuck being stuck on STEP ONE!! :)
thanks in advance!!

Dreamhost is not ideal. But If you login to your sql database on the server you can check the table called "logs". That will have an a record of the email sent out with the link to the reset function.
Especially on a local install, you may need to get the lost password recovery url directly from the database because email may not work locally. See

It may not be the password, but the username that is wrong. Personally, the first thing I do with a new install, before anything else, is to edit my user details for a new username (so I klnow who I am), and a new password (so I know what it is).

Guys,
Thanks a TON. I went into the log file and found out that it was my USERNAME that was wrong. For some reason, it defaulted to "Admin" instead of the username I created. Password was the same, though.
Anyway, the email was correct, but I still didn't get any emails ... no biggie, because I can NOW login & logout with no problem.
Thanks for the quick and accurate response!!

Exact same thing happened to me, I defaulted to Admin. But....I would like to make those emails work. The form page isn't working either. Any help on that? Thanks in advance.
