i want to give c5 a try and install it on my virtual machine (which is not accessible from the outside)but the need to connect the project page to get plugins and others to work keeps me looking for other systems.

Project page is totally unnecessary for installing add-ons. Any add-on you've purchased can be downloaded to your own machine. Themes and add-ons can be then uploaded manually to your "Packages" folder. No problem. The project page assures you get automatic/critical update notices and is convenient, not necessary, for installing extras.

PS. This info can be found in the C5 "Getting Started" guide on this website. The page referring to manual installs is here http://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/how_to_install_add_ons_and_the...

IF you've already added the extras to a Project page, they can be Released from that page so you can easily download them from your Transactions folder under "My Account"
