Unable to connect to the Database
Permalink
Hi...
I've been spinning my wheeles for three days now trying to install c5, I'm at the installation point, and no matter WHAT I've tried, i can't get it to connect to the database....
the site iswww.www.c5.fullmoondesigns.com/c5...
I get the installation screen with everthing checked off as OK...& i've verified that the config file is at 755, & files/ is at 777
I've contacted my hosting company, and they have verified that I'm using the correct user & pw & Server info....phpinfo is in there...
www.www.c5.fullmoondesigns.com/phpinfo.php...
I SO want to be able to use this Awesome tool...I've used the demo and I've also tried installing it on xampp...but that too gives me a slew of errors ...so I figured which ever got me closer to actual install would be the one I'd focus on...and this was the closest i've gotten...
I've read so many posts...tried SO many different avenues of advice...but just can't get this to install...
Can someone please please help me????
I'm not a programer....just familiar with general web design.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE to anyone that can point me in the right direction!!

Maybe look at moving to a compatible host?
I actually have considered it...but I've seen a post that mentioned that the company I have as my hosting provider is recommeneded.....So...I'm thinking there must be something else that someone can advise that would help me resolve this problem....
I've posted the phpinfo link...and I saw another thread that recommended loading the installation files to the website's root directory...which I have now tried...but still get the same errors...
If someone can possibly recommend a possible soltuion...that would be great...if not.. I'll just move on... According to my hosting...the problem is not server side...and I know that I can connect to my server and a MySQL DB using PHP scripts for another site...so it has to be something to do with the c5 install script...
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help...

Thx...Well...If there is anyone out there that can help...in any way...I'd really appreciate it...I like Ixweb...they're good...& great price for what you get...but like I said...I have no problems conencting to a mySql Database using PHP scripts on Ix...and I've gotten to the C5 install screen & Ix says there is no reason from their perspective that it dosn't work...so it must be something in the install code that is preventing the connection....
Any path forward that anyone can point me to...would really be great....I'm not interested in going through the process of switching hosting quite yet....especially if I've got no assurance that it isn't just something I'm doing wrong with the install..or something that can be worked around...
Thx in advance to anyone that can assist...

Just wanted to post a followup...
Thanks to ThemeGuru for his offer to help me resolve the "Unable to Connect to Database" error.
Before we were able to take a look, I decided to start fresh.
I deleted my old web (which was just a sub web for testing purposes)& delted the database. I then created a new sub web and a new database and db user. I then uploaded a fresh copy of the c5 install files, fixed the permissions where appropriate and VOILA.....CONNECTED & INSTALLED....
After so many attempts to install and so many variations of the login info...I'm thinking that my initial upload of the files experienced some kind of glitch....and didn't go through smoothly...
So ...if nothing seems to work...and you know you've a host that can support c5, and you're pretty certain of the required details...maybe a clean start is the answer... It worked for me!~
