Unable to download add-ons in 5.4.2

Since upgrading to 5.4.2, I am now unable to download add-ons via 'installed and available' or 'more add-ons'.

I have seen posts about "allow_url_fopen" causing this, but I don't have access to php.ini. Besides which, add-ons downloaded OK prior to 5.4.2 and 5.4.2 itself downloaded sucessfully to upgrade from 5.4.1.1.

For now I can do things the long way with ftp, but has something in how C5 does downloads changed?

I'm in the same boat - I posted about this yesterday.

Frustrating how every time there's an upgrade - something doesn't work at that point.

Thanks, you have confirmed it is a genuine problem and not just me. I have now posted a bug report.
For convenience of anyone else with this problem I have added a link to your thread

I think it's not just Add-Onns issue, Themes won't install as well.. Again, it just started happening since I've upgraded Concrete5 to 5.4.2 version... strange.

Andrew has just posted a fix for this with the bug report http://www.concrete5.org/developers/bugs/5-4-2/unable-to-download-a...

I have patched the file (just on my site) in the update path and it all works again. I have marked the bug report as closed and am sufficiently happy I will see if I can mark this as a best answer, though it is actually Andrew that deserves the Karma ;-)

Thanks John (and of course Andrew). Works just fine now
