Unable to connect to database.
I'm a front end coder with no experience in PHP or MySQL, so my questions are pretty basic. I keep getting the "Unable to connect to database." message. So I think I must be entering wrong info in the Database Information boxes in the install screen because I've got green check marks on everything.
When I'm installing concrete5 and I get to the gray install screen and it asks for the server, is that the url of the site? Or is there something else I could be doing wrong?

Thanks. I got it.
OK so I am have the same problem and I am using godaddy as the host. Godaddy will not help because I am putting in a 3 party software. I have all the information from them and put it in and still get the same error. I have no hyphens or underscores in the username or database name. And the username and database are the same name is that the problem?
second is something else
the database server is the address of the machine the database server is one...so if its localhost thats what it will be..if your on a shared host like godaddy, after you create the database and it shows up as completed, you should be able to get the database address and I will assume you have written down your database name, user and password.
So if you don't have all that info, you wont connect.
