University Site Slow on Servers

We can't seem to diagnose why a concrete5 site has slowed down after moving it from our test servers to some university servers. The universities servers are certainly superior to ours, yet the site experiences a 2.5 second delay is page loads - ( on the university servers:http://www.unc.edu/depts/exercise/new/index.php... versus on ours:http://exss.launchloft.com/). In addition, no page can go into edit mode and the entire back-end slows to a crawl when logged in.

The university has some other big dog CMS's installed and running with no issues, so now the admins are questioning concrete5. I'm sure it can keep up, just not sure what's causing the problem. My gut tells me the Zend cache is causing some trouble. Any ideas anybody?

Seemed pretty fast to me too. looked at it with firebug. It looked like a couple images couldn't be found (maincolumn bgx and it looked like loading.gif couldn't be found (one of them,it looked like you had two.)
nice design btw.
